Background:

Dr. Msezane, Professor of Physics and Director of the NSF-funded CTSPS at Clark Atlanta University, received the B.Sc. and B.Sc. (Hons) from the University of South Africa in 1962 and 1964 respectively, and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Saskatchewan (1968) and the University of Western Ontario (1973). Naturalized in 1985, he immigrated to the United States from South Africa via Canada for postdoctoral research. He has worked at Witwatersrand University (South Africa, 1968 - 1969), Georgia State University (1974 - 1976), the University of New Brunswick (1976 - 1978), Louisiana State University (1978 - 1980), Morehouse College (1980 - 1983), Atlanta University (1983 - 1989) and Clark Atlanta University (1989 - Present). He has carried out research at ITAMP (Harvard) and consulted at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Dr. Msezane's current research includes electron/photon interactions, particularly non-dipole effects in atoms and the elucidation of small-angle electron scattering through innovative theoretical approaches.

Dr. Msezane was honored with the D.Sc. by Fort Hare University (South Africa, 1998) recognized by The Atlanta Journal Constitution and is a recipient of a World University Service Scholarship. He has received research grants from AFOSR, DoE, IBM, NASA, NSF and the AAS. He also belongs to several scientific and professional societies.
