Nanoscale Coaxial Optical Microscope
This image is a simulation of visible light traveling in nanoscale coaxial cable, in much the same way that radio waves travel in a conventional coaxial cable. A team at Boston College is fabricating such "nanocoax" devices and using them to perform optical microscopy.
