Entangling Billions of Qubits

Ten billion qubits are entangled in this tiny cube of silicon. The object in the background is a penny provided for scale.
This small grey crystal of silicon inside a glass test tube contains 10 billion pairs of entangled spin qubits. Qubits are potentially computing elements in powerful quantum computers that could solve problems beyond the capabilities of conventional computers.
