Techies’ Transition to Management

Embracing Leadership Roles in Science

Techies' Transition to Management: Embracing Leadership Roles in Science
Wednesday, March 20
5:45 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.
Convention Center
Room 336

Many advanced-degree scientists who find employment in the private sector occupy managerial and entrepreneurial roles.  In many ways, these individuals are ideal choices to lead other scientists.  However, many are not properly prepared to take on leadership or managerial roles, or to relinquish their deep involvement in technical work, which can lead to unfortunate outcomes for themselves and those they lead.

This workshop will explore the common pitfalls for scientists turned leaders, and provide ways for them to overcome these potential obstacles and succeed at their new roles.
