LGBT Climate in Physics: Building an Inclusive Community - Michael Falk, APS C-LGBT Committee Chair
APS TV sits down with APS LGBT Committee Chair, Michael Falk, to discuss APS's recent report on "LGBT Climate in Physics: Building an Inclusive Community" and the report's findings that while many physicists find the field welcoming and supportive, a significant number face discrimination, hostility and isolation.
11:15 a.m. - 12:39 p.m.
Convention Center, Room 312
Who Should Attend?
Those who identify as gender sexual minorities, as LGBTQQIAAP+, and friends of the community interested in learning about the report findings.
The APS Ad-hoc Committee on LGBT Issues (C-LGBT) will present a report on the obstacles to inclusion of LGBT physicists and recommendations for building a more inclusive physics community. The report investigates LGBT representation in physics, the educational and professional climate, and recommended policies and practices to positively impact LGBT physicists and their inclusion. The report presentation will be followed by a panel discussion.
The report will be released in early March.
Participants are also encouraged to attend the Diversity Reception.
