Bouchet Endowment Campaign
In 1876, Edward Alexander Bouchet made history by becoming the first African American PhD physicist, and the sixth person of any race to receive a PhD in physics from an American university. The Edward A. Bouchet Award has connects exceptional minority physicists with students from the U.S. and abroad. The award will lose its annual funding in 2013 so APS needs your help to endow the award for future years.
Campaign Information
In its second century of service,American Physical Society continues to promote the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics. APS achieves these goals by publishing research journals; organizing scientific meetings; implementing education, public affairs and outreach programs; and, recognizing outstanding research and societal accomplishments through prizes and awards.
Funding for these activities is partially dependent on the donations of individual, corporate, foundation and governmental benefactors. Members and other supporters of the American Physical Society contribute to its programs and prizes because they share APS' goals and aspirations.
