Task Force on American Innovation Releases Brochure Highlighting Scientific Research at DOE, NSF, NIST & DODAPS lauds brochure citing MRI, laser and Web browser among innovations developed from basic research TFAI Brochure
"Basic Research - Tackling America's WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Physical Society (APS Physics), a founding member of the Task Force on American Innovation, announces that the Task Force recently released an eight-page, full-color brochure on the importance of federal funding of basic research in the physical sciences and engineering research. The Task Force on American Innovation is a coalition of businesses, trade associations, scientific societies, and higher education that was founded in 2004 to advocate for greater federal investments for basic research in the physical sciences and engineering. The brochure highlights innovations that resulted from basic research at the Department of Energy Office of Science, National Science Foundation, National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Department of Defense. Those innovations include the MRI, Web browser, laser, atomic clock and Global Positioning Satellite. The purpose of the brochure is to educate the public on how scientific research has positively enhanced their lives. |
