Development Administrator

The American Physical Society (APS) seeks an experienced, dynamic and personable fundraising professional to fill the position of Development Administrator.  This position is based at APS Headquarters in College Park, Maryland (near the DC Metro College Park station).


Responsibilities:

The chief functions of the job are to work with the Director of Development and other top APS leadership to plan and implement fundraising activities which include:

  • Identifying, cultivating, soliciting and helping manage the stewardship of individual donors, foundations, and corporations;
     
  • Coordinating and managing special events;
     
  • Managing a full range of research, finance and office administration for the Development Office.   

Qualifications:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree and a minimum of five years experience in the area of fundraising, research, special events planning and/or marketing required.
     
  • Proficient computer skills, including: knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML, database management, email list moderation, and electronic mail is necessary. 
     
  • Familiarity with fund-raising finance data base programs needed and experience with association management software is helpful.
     
  • Ability to be confidential is important. 
     
  • Ability to travel on a limited basis is needed. 
     
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication needed.
     
  • Strong statistical skills required.
